Today is a good example. I am working all day, sitting at a desk. I am also on call and subject to leaving at any time. I am also armed. I take my sidearm out of the holster and put it on the desk I will be using. It is more of a receptionist job, taking complaints, handling problems and such. There is a shelf under the window in front of the desk where people stand. I slide the gun under the ledge of the shelf where it is readily accessible. If I have to leave, then the gun goes with me and the replacement person is on their own.

I will have the same desk job on Dec 23, Dec 24, Dec 26, Dec 31 and Jan 02. Unless I am doing paperwork, I will not sit at a desk otherwise except on the days around holidays and that is to allow people to be with their families at home.
