Bear in mind the bedside safe not only protects your HD gun from children, but also from thieves. Someone breaking into your home in the daytime when you're out at work or running errands is almost certain to check the bedroom for firearms to steal.

Also, just because a home doesn't have children doesn't mean that children will never be in your home. It only take once for a mistake to happen.
