I have a Model 629 Classic that I like a great deal. In a magazine article I read recently, there was a discussion of Model 29/629 revolvers that mentioned markings on the frame 629-1, 629-2, etc. My pistol has 629-6 stamped below the serial number.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the meaning?
