There are several of us here that have a 4536, but that is a function of the Smithcentric nature of this board. Research has turned up an estimate of ~ 600 pistols produced. I've never gotten mine lettered, but the estimated number is believable to me. If correct, this is very nearly as limited production a collector piece as the great 1046, but far less well known among even Smith fans.

For me, the frame mounted decockers rock. I like them better than slide mounted ones and the DA only versions. Personally, I wouldn't be afraid to shoot and enjoy it. This is an awesome carry piece. The short beavertail, compact frame and lack of saftey levers make it a dream to carry. Like the 4516, these are some of the best and most reliable short barrel 45s ever produced. Until you actually shoot it, you'll never know what a pleasure it is to shoot.
