I was/am a country bumkin so I didn't want or need anything with speed. My Holly carb was a on 67 International Scout top speed without having to stop at every gas station was about 45 MPH. That thing could climb a tree though. This old scout 304 V8 had a whine that I will never forget.

I remember one time this kid from Iowa IIRC kept teasing me and giving me grief about my old scout, he had a big foot want to be type truck. I waited until there were several of us guys together and right on que he started given me grief. I challenged him to a hill climb and of course he couldn't get out of it as he had a big mouth. He took off made it about half way up lost traction and had to back down. I went up the hill turned around and came back down. Stopped in front of him with all the guys around and said maybe next time I might even put in 4 wheel drive. That put an end to his bragging about his truck.
