The first time I was stationed in San Diego (1975) I picked up a 1966 El Camino that I powered with a Chevy 427 L88 engine out of a drag boat. Sitting on top of the manifold was a 1030cfm 3 barrel Holley. It worked fine, but the high rise with 2 750's worked better!
Man that thing could eat the gas like nothing else. When you are young and dumb you just have to hear those secondaries all the time!
I eventually sold the engine out of it and went back to a much milder 327, but still fast enough.
