Can't do that. The comp is, if I'm not seriously mistaken, the barrel nut and an essential part of tensioning the shroud/barrel assembly. I think you're stuck with the comp as it is unless you could get a machinist/gunsmith to manufacture a replacement comp w/o perforations for you if that is what is bothering you.

Smith will still need the factory tool to remove and install the comp. Don
