Well, of course it's time for a 1911!

There have been many opinions, given up to this point.

First and foremost, there is the Colt 1911. Colt knows what they are doing when it comes to the 1911, no doubt.

I get the impression you are looking for an introductory model; in which case, i'd recommend the Remington R1.

No extras, but a sound, dependable firearm nevertheless. For its pricepoint, i'd argue it is one of the better deals out there...fit and finish is nice.

Ruger makes great firearms. Stainless is nice. But if it were my first, and I was budget conscious, i'd recommend the Remington.
