Our mutt Shovelhead. We adopted him from a neighbor's "OOPS!" litter in August 1988 in Exmouth, Western Australia. His mom was a Corgi/Rott mix (
) and his dad was literally the junkyard dog, a full blooded Staffordshire Terrier.
When we transferred back to The Colonies in '92 we couldn't find anyone we felt good about leaving him with sooooo....
$1K+ later he was with us Stateside.
Shovelhead passed in July 2004 in my arms at home on his favorite rug. He's in the back yard under a tree I planted for him. His spirit is waiting for me at The Bridge.
Almost eight years now and I still grieve for him. He was one of those dogs that comes along once in a lifetime if one is very, very lucky.
