Just what is the deal, S&W???? Surely a little white dot cannot be THAT hard of a fix -- especially on new guns after the old ones exhibited the problem.
FYI, I have seen people post about issues with this on their M&P's on several forums, including this one, 1911forum, mdshooters, thefiringline, and at least one more I cannot recall the name of.

This suggests that it is not that easy of a fix or else it would not be posted on various forums about both new and old S&W's. I don't worry about it because the front dot get dark from carbon and cleaning.
White paint (or the color of your choice) and a tooth pick - two minute job.
