Several years ago, I was at my local indoor range and I noticed two stainless steel .45 1911s in their showcase. One was a Colt Officers marked $900 and the other was the above Dan Wesson (pre CZ) marked $450. At that time, I did not even know that Dan Wesson made anything other than revolvers and both the range owner and I had no idea of where Dan Wesson 1911s rated on the quality scale. I did not want to spend $450 plus tax for a possible dud so I handed the gun back to him. He said "what about $400 out the door?" and I figured why not.

The gun has performed great. It is a "Patriot" model and has an Officers size frame and a Commander length slide.

I would not sell mine even if I was offered $450 for it.
