pownal55, there have been posts concerning this topic but what I do is get the gray colored 3M Scotch brite pads usually at an automotive body shop or auto parts store. I then use gun oil and rub it gently with the pad until I get the finish that is closest to the original finish. wipe the oil off with a cotton cloth and maybe apply some Renaissance Wax to it after. Don't use much as a little goes a long way. Hope that helps.
