Was issued a P89 BUT the P89DAO version. Totally turned me off to the P89. Later they were starting to be replaced with the P95DAO as I was getting ready to retire. Shot my last qualification with the P95DAO.
Having said that, the Ruger P family are well made, accurate, injection molded/investment cast guns. They are more top heavy than the metal framed S&Ws and the slide sits higher up which all adds up to slightly more felt recoil and muzzle rise on the Ruger.
If it was me, I would get one of the 5906 trade ins and not look back.
