NBC aired live footage - you can see it on youtube - of a long gun being removed from the trunk. It looks as though an officer drops a mag and clears it. So there was a long gun in the trunk. It appears to be cleared via a side positioned cocking lever. There are ARs that have that configuration. But it actually looks as though it might be a Saiga 12. Yet none of these were registered to the mother. So who owned it and where did it come from? Where is the villianization of an AK shotgun? Seems an easy target yet we here nary about it.

The reason that lone gunmen theories do not sit well is simple...many times they are concocted to the point that it strains credibility.

Here we have the problem that it was not the media incorrectly reporting something about the guns found with the killer. It was responding officers who were directly saying to the cameras that the AR was not inside. Did they overlook it? Forget about it? Not know the difference between an AR and a handgun?

It could be all just a case of confusion. That does not mean we should not critically ask questions.
