When I first got into shooting a veteran LEO and experienced shooter gave me a bit of advice about ammo. He said that whenever I purchased any ammo to shoot 1/2 of it and set the other 1/2 aside in the event ammo becomes scarce someday. I questioned the wisdom of this initially, but several months later came the 2008 panic and ammo was indeed scarce. I ran into him during the height of the 2008 panic, and he reminded me again of what he told me. At the time he was selling Speer Gold Dots +P 9mm hollow points 250 rds for $100. I bought some and still have plenty today. I currently reload and I never thought we would have another run on ammo so soon. I am glad I followed his advice. Now if I can just find some small pistol primers.
