Personally, if the Highway Patrolman is a 4 screw (screw in front of the trigger guard) or a *gasp* 5 screw (screw on the r/h side plate, just under the rear sight & screw on front of trigger guard) I would definitely go with these first. (especialy a 5 screw.)

If it's a 3 screw i.e. None of the above screws installed. I would go with the 586 in the box. They are much harder to find than the 686's. (stainless version) If value is your largest concern, I think that if the HP is a 5 screw, if that is what that one is, would be 'a home run'.
