I've owned several M&Ps with a thumb safety...and all of them felt "mushy." No positive click, on or off. The only M&P model with a good safety, IMO, is the Shield.

I think you are better off without a thumb safety, and without a magazine disconnect, on the M&Ps (except for the thumb safety on the Shield.)
