No need having a "mushy" thumb safety. With a very modicum of work it is very easy to change any "mushiness" to a substantial crisp feeling safety. I did so with my 9C and it's great. A simple matter of making the detent notch a little more pronounced. A small gunsmith file or careful application of a dremel tool. Having said that, I agree, as furnished from the factory, "mushy' is an apt description, but so easy to change to a positive feeling safety. Simply a matter of preference, no right or wrong here.
