Recently I have been using the HP-38 with 158 gr LRNFP at 3.5 gr (ran out of BE and couldn't find any in my area). Have used 2.8 gr BE for years. Both work well. I would skip the mag primers and stick with the manual recommended CCI-500 small pistol primers.

That said, please check the powder manufacturers web sites to confirm the loads.
