Deputy Jack Weaver of the LA County Sheriff's Department. He was a family friend. My family, and several others, used to go camping in the desert around LA. Ten or fifteen trucks with camper shells, caravan to some spot and camp overnight. It was never an official campground. In those days there was just a lot of open space. Weaver always let me wear a pistol belt with a K-22. We'd shoot tin cans, watermelons, bleach bottles. Somebody had a clay target thrower and we'd shoot skeet. Mr Weaver taught me how to hit the moving clays with a revolver. He, needless to say, coached me a lot on my stance...
