I just picked up a new Smith and Wesson 500 revolver. I haven't fired it yet, but it seems to be missing a cap at the end of the ejector rod. There seems to be female threads at the end of the rod like it supposed to have a cap like in the photos.

If it is missing the cap, will Smith and Wesson send a replacement to me? Also, is this something that was forgotton at the factory or could it have wobbled loose somehow? Is it common? Should it be locktited?
