You do know that George Nonte was a prolific gun writer during the '60s, don't you? In addition to articles, he wrote a number of books. His last rank was major in the U.S. Army.

I had the pleasure of knowing the late Dick Eades, also a gun writer and close friend of Major Nonte.
Nonte got Dick started in gun writing when both were Army officers at Fort Hood. Dick was living on base and sitting on his front porch when Capt. Monte moved in next door. He watched as a procession of guns emerged from the moving van and into the house.
Dick was already a firearms expert and avid competitive shooter. Not long after moving in, Nonte asked him to take care of a magazine gun review assignment he was too busy do himself.
He shared some amusing stories about Nonte as well as other famous gun writers. It sounded like George was quite the character.
