For hunting, I'd use hunting specific ammo. So that it is specifically stated so on the box for hunting. My understanding of hollow points with the .223 is that they are not hollowed out for expansion, but rather to lighten the bullet up front for things like ballistic coefficient. You see much of the match ammo out there is hollow point.
