In Pennsylvania, local police officers can be hired while they are off duty to provide security for local business people. Why not look into that possibility. An officer going off duty after the middle shift my jump at the opportunity to get 2 hours overtime, and make the area safer. In Pa off duty police can be hired to direct traffic, work at funeral homes, work at markets like on Friday night, work weekends at motels and hotels etc, etc. Do the other actors feel the same way that you do. The suggestion about pepper spray was an excellent one too.
