I love my shield 9mm. It was great out of the box as well as its twin I bought a few weeks later..the only thing I changed is I built up the thumb safety just a bit with Brownell's fiberglas and then rounded it off a bit. It is perfect but S&W needs to improve it and get rid of the sharp edge on top of the lever. I highly recommend the Shield 9mm but would not buy the 40 unless I could reload them and reduce the load...The 40 in a compact is not for fun at all!

Do buy the Shield in 9mm. The mag springs could be clipped a few links to make them easier to load but buy an Uplula and save your thumbnail! I have only to install the XS Big Dots on mine and it will be perfect. The stock rear sight also is very sharp at the rear. S&W has beat Glock to making a thin gun for EDC with the Shield! I will never buy another Glock 26..
