With the hot loads available today for .22lr (Stingers, Aguila, Velociters, ect.) that can produce the same muzzle energy from a rifle as a .380 pistol, (200+ ft lbs.) I don't consider the .25acp to be very noteworthy. I'd say hands down that the .22lr would be more effective.
However if someone pointed a .25acp pocket pistol at me I'd sure as hell be trying to get away from the muzzle of that thing. It has stopped attacks before, it has killed people quickly. But I don't think it can be depended on to do so.
The biggest thing I feel that makes the .25acp completely irrelevant nowadays is the price and availability. It's simply not worth it.
