All of these guys have suggestions, but I didn't see anyone that asked you what it is you want ot do with the gun once you get it. Is it an investment piece ? A shooter ? What kind of shooting ? Do you plan on carrying it ? Will you use it for hunting ? All of these things will matter in what model and barrel length you choose to get. I bought a 629-2 years ago with an 8 3/8 barrel for hunting, and have never felt it was a bad decision.
