I'm curious if anyone is familiar with this and if so if it will fit the model 19 better.
I carried a model 19 as a Border Patrol Agent and as a probie, I carried my 19 in a Jordan holster.
The history of the Jordan holster is based on a design by Bill Jordan, a Border Patrolman, who was one of the fastest & most accurate shooters of his time and wrote a book called, No Second Place Winners. His design was a shanked holster with a forward cant that brought the pistol out in a smooth motion to bring the pistol on target as fast as possible.
It is a fine holster but... if you rode in a car for any length length of time, it became a little uncomfortable because of the shank. I later went to a high rise holster that held the revolver high on the belt and kept the pistol close to the body which I felt was a littler safer, especially in a crowd.
I used Don Hume leather for many years and you can't go wrong with his leather.
If you want the holster to assume the shape of you revolver, you can do what we did whenever we bought a new holster, we soaked the holster in water for several hours, then when it was fairly pliable, we would wrap the revolver in saran wrap and slip it into the holster while pushing hard on the grips so it sat well into the holster & wait until the holster dried. Then, removed the revolver & the saran wrap & then oiled the pistol down real good. It sounds archaic in this day & age where we treat side arms as pieces of art, but be assured, it doesn't harm the weapon at all.
You will find all holsters fresh off the rack stiff & tight fitting and that is the nature of leather unless you spend the big bucks for a lined holster. Even then, the holster will grab the revolver until broke in.
Bye the way, when I retired I hated to turn in that revolver as it served me well but the government will not sell a weapon but will either reissue it or destroy it. I knew it would be destroyed as the Patrol was already issuing semi autos.
I finally broke down a couple of months ago & bought a beautiful Model 19 w/target grips. It was like reuniting with an old friend. One of the finest sidearms Smith ever made.
