Just remember to place your non trigger hand on the guard spur and not on the forend when firing. That's avoid the unpleasent possibility of a chain fire mishap with your hand in front of the cylinder.
Even just the BP flash in front of the cylinder can be painful if your hand is on the forend of one of the revolving rifles.
Colt designed theirs with a knob like extension on the trigger guard for the off hand to rest safely.
