I take women that have never shot before to the range fairly often. Before we go out there though we spend some time on range safety and good maners, along with stuff like how to handel a pistol, what all the controls are for, sight allingment, site picture, grip, finger placement and control, stance ect. They always prefer the service size 9 mm Glocks. 17, 19 and at the range itself, a model 34. They never have any problems and their skills and confidence develope fast. Fact is recoil is nill, 9mm cost about the same as 22rf and they feel like they are shooting a real gun (they are). One thing I don't do is take several different pistols to the range the first time. I have no desire to have a discusssion at the range reguarding why a safety on a SR9 goes down to shoot and the one on a Baretta Cougar goes up to shoot, ect.
