I realize that the original thread started 7 years ago ( ! ) but for the benefit of some newer members or those who have never had a chance to handle a Model 53, here's a few pics of mine. It's an early one, production started in March 1961, this one shipped to the famed Evaluators Ltd. in Quantico VA in June '61.

Here is a close up up the hammer face, the switch at the top rocks back and forth to select which firing pin is used for the centerfire .22 Magnum or rimfire rounds, either in the chamber inserts or if you have the optional .22 LR extra cylinder

Here is what the breech face looks like, with the dual firing pins visible
