db is correct- the George Lawrence Co. was out of business by the mid to late 1980's. a George Lawrence catalog dated 9/1/85 does not list the 586 or 686. The Lawrence Leather Co., owned I believe by Gould & Goodrich continued the line without "George" in the name. A 1990 catalog I have for that business lists a size code of 500 for a 4" 586 or 686 & 502 for 6" versions. The 8 3/8" 686 variant is size code 831.
Now, here's where db goes Yoda on us-500 is the old GL code for the 4" Colt Trooper & .357 model & 502 is the code for the 6" Trooper, .357, Officers Model Match & the Python. db, I bow videdyour superior Gun Sense. If that was a guess, it was a great one. In all seriousness, I get asked pretty regularly if a holster will fit a full lug revolver & I haven't been able to give an accurate answer.
