My duty weapon in the mid-60's(Federal) was a Model 13 S/W with a 6" bull barrel with no adjustable rear sight.
The caliber was 357 mag, and the bbl was specifically made and used for beat-downs on my Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Our 357 Mag ammunition was made by Western, yellow box and was silver pointed and encased copper for car engine and car body penetration.
This was in the 1960's and early 70's. This ammo is not available today.
Today's tactics are different now ,,,using SWAT teams.
