The screw and escutcheon are the same, although they are on opposite sides of the
grips from one pair to the other. The other pair I have is for a later S&W, and does
not have the cut frame corner. They are checkered, and the checkering is very very
fine, whereas the checkering on the snubbie is much coarser.

To me, the pair on the snubbie just don't look like other grips that are attributed to
one or another of the LAPD gripmakers.

There are quite a few members of this forum who have a strong interest in the LAPD
gripmakers, and they know a lot more about them that I do. Hopefully one or another
will lend a helping hand here.
