Manufacturing is a very simple game.
Make all the product(s) you can sell.
When you introduce a new product and demand suddenly exceeds your capacity to supply, you do not look for options or variations you could start offering.
Make 'em, ship 'em!
When you find yourself perpetually backordered for a long time and you are running at full capacity, you focus only on production of what is on order. The only exceptions are problems with the process or the product that HAVE to be addressed.
The rest has to wait.
It ain't rocket science.
