Just a quick follow-up. I've field-stripped and cleaned my 22 Victory twice since I posted about the barrel nut (yes, I do field-strip and clean after each trip to the range, but that's just me :-) I hand-tighten the barrel nut (it's never really that loose, just a fraction of a turn is all that's needed) and re-assemble. I tighten up on the takedown screw a bit more than what I used to (which was my version of a "snug up"). No problems with the screw coming loose at the range (100-150 rounds, checking the barrel after every 3 or 4 mags) and no problems field-stripping afterwards. Bottom line is I guess at least for now….at least for safety and operation…. the barrel nut thing appears to be a non-issue.
