I disagree, my dads submariner went with him to Vietnam, and saw me through Afghanistan. My son will have it when I am gone. It is banged up but keeps impeccable time. Perhaps a timex would have done the same but I think 5 grand for anything that will serve a dynasty through harsh environments with distinction is a small price to pay. Perhaps a valjoux 7750 will do the same thing. But I'd rather have a smith over a Taurus. P.s. I know the 7750 is a chronograph movement.
