Gee, what if it's "under" the finish, and they're getting exposed more & more after you handle/fondle/polish it during and after each use?
I'm thinking it might be well worth sending those pictures to S&W and let them take a look. If it is a problem with the gun's finish, they should own up to it and make it right.
"I'm not sure" it is, but it's worth checking out.
