Since I started this thread some time ago, I acquired one more I-frame. The pictures below have taken recently to confirm that it's not nickel, but a high polish blue, and to show the box. This is a 22/32 kit gun with a unique history. The frame was serialed in 1940, but the gun was not shipped until 1951. I contains both pre-war and post-war parts and mechanisms. Only a very few were produced in this manner, making it quite a S&W collector jewel. It walked in off the street at a small gun show a few years ago, and I had to have it. It's in near-perfect condition. I then found an original-era correct box for it, thanks to a member of this forum.
