It has nothing to do with dropping a gun. It has everything to do with people not knowing there is a pin holding the stocks on. When you try to take off the stock, pry from the top and pull down, snap! That's why you mostly see only one stock broken. Most people learn from breaking one, and it is usually the side with the serial number on it.
