If I'm reading it correctly, it only gives a vague range for auto pistols prior to 1970. By extrapolation, (assuming their monthly production remained at a steady pace) I would say it is late 1957, but I could be way off. I guess you may have to call S&W to find out for sure. It would be interesting to see how close my wild a** guess is. I am by no means any sort of an expert on S&W, just an enthusiastic aficionado.
