I remove the liner using a small straight pick. There is a hole at the forward end of the striker channel that is visible from the underside of the slide. (opposite side than the extractor). If you put the pick into that hole and lever the liner back it comes out easily. Looking at the liner there appears to be a snap type lock that keeps it into the forward position.
