Trigger upgrade for 15-22

Ill add that I have the CMC 3.5lb currently but Id rather have a lighter trigger. Especially for my slide fire.

I don't know if this applies to the drop in triggers, but when I installed the ALG-ACT trigger in the 15-22 I also installed the slightly longer "Colt 901" trigger and hammer pins (available from Geissele) and they are the perfect length for the slightly wider Polymer lower on the 15-22.

Yeah. That most certainly applies to this thread. My slidefire kit came with the appropriate length pins for a 15-22. I like my cmc but that hyper fire has my attention. I need to build a lower and try one

HiperFire 24C in mine, with the KNS 15-22 anti rotate pins. Perfect match of 2 pieces of precision kit.

Absolutely love the set up. Worth every penny. IMO

Would 4.5# pull work for you?

I'm likely to be a "majority of one", but the "Velocity" 4.5# "drop in" is rated for 22LR and Russian steel ammo. I have two of them, and like them a lot. I have had zero failure to fire with 7.62 Tula, Wolf, GD ammo... which I can not say for the RRA trigger (much lighter hammer for faster lock time).

Your not alone, I have the 4# velocity in one of my dedicated AR22s. Reliable ignition and feels great!

That same setup broke the RRA 2 stage trigger in 3000 rounds. RRA told me to pound sand since it was being used in a "blow back" gun....

I really like my RRA AR. Really good quality rifle for what I wanted at my price point. However I have heard of the triggers failing in blowback rifles. Isn't that the trigger used in the performance center version of the 15-22? It just seems odd that s&w would use that trigger if it is known to have issues in blowback rim fire rifles. Or that RRA would sell them a bunch of triggers for this application

It is the same design but no one is absolutely sure it's a RRA assembly. I replaced the 2 stage trigger in my PC 15-22 with a single stage CMC trigger and have never looked back.

The RRA hammer that broke in my AR22 (CMMG upper with Aero Precision lower) snapped, it wasn't a sheer type break. Could have been a heat treating issue. (just a guess) Maybe I'll try the PC 2 stage trigger in my AR22, worst that can happen is it fails like the RRA did. ;)

I can't understand why anyone would want a 2 stage trigger in a 'military' style semi-auto .22lr  Or are people shooting precision competitions with them?? Fast and furious mini-rifle comps and plinking surely the way to go?

I shoot offhand rapid fire precision comps with mine, i agree that the first stage of a two stage trigger would be surplus to requirements for what i use this rifle for. I opted for a crisp 2lb breaking single stage trigger, great for rapid fire and responsive enough for precision work. Whereas my Annie 1417 is a tuned two stage trigger with a 1.1lb break...that is my offhand precision rifle, the two triggers are different beasts for different purposes. Love them both. :D

Rick,

Would the ALG-ACT trigger all by it's lonesome be adequate for a 15-22?

I ask because after posting you had installed the AA trigger you followed up with: when I installed the ALG-ACT trigger in the 15-22 I also installed the slightly longer "Colt 901" trigger and hammer pins (available from Geissele) and they are the perfect length for the slightly wider Polymer lower on the 15-22

Are the pins that come with AA trigger the wrong size, or what?

Thanks

Plus one. 😂

If I was bit more with it yesterday I would have given you a shout BStuff. Was out your way with work yesterday. Would have been good to grab a fresh brew on the way back to sunny Lincoln. :D

The pins that come with the ALG trigger will work fine, just be recessed in the receiver a bit. Just make sure the hammer spring engages with the trigger pin slots so it won't walk out on ya.

There are a lot of options for the pins, The KNS Anti-Walk pins work well I am told. I personally prefer the Colt pins as they are flush with the receiver, not recessed nor do they protrude more than a couple of 1000's of an inch. They just look better to me.

I've both the single stage hyperfire, and a giessele G2S, in my 15/22s. I prefer the two stage, since the single stage seems a bit dangerous at the lighter pull weight that I prefer. My shooting is precision plinking, and the two stage seems better for this type shooting. If I were doing a different type of shooting, then I'd likely feel different about preference. And this just proves that you really need to be certain, of the type of shooting you'll do before dropping a couple hundred bucks on a trigger. Both my 15/22s have the kns anti roll pins, because I like using the connecting bar as a finger index. It really helps keep my finger out of the trigger guard.

Has anyone here used a LaRue MBT-2S trigger in their 15-22? If so please give some feedback. Online reviews of this trigger in ARs are very good and the price is right.
