Welcome to the Forum, As Don says, any history will be found in the factory historical letter which will tell you when, where and to whom the gun was shipped and it's original configuration. The serial number does place it as a .38 Safety hammerless , 4th model. It was probably made around 1902-3 era. There's a link on this Forum for the application form to order a historical letter.
