As has been discussed a lot on several boards (and some news shows), the last state to require the fired casing has given up on the project. Just too much to deal with, both in storage space and costs.

All my Shield 9mm mags have arrived with a black china marker stripe, even new in the factory packaging.

As to grease / oil, they are lubed for storage, as they may sit in a distributor's stock for an indefinite time (months, and perhaps years).

Clean it before you head out to the range, and go have fun!
