The BB is an old trick I first saw in the 70s. It should not cause a problem.

You need to check for pushoff-
With an EMPTY, UNLOADED gun, cock the hammer. Push firmly on the rear of the hammer with 8-10 lbs of force. If it falls, you need a hammer or a trigger or both.
