S&W .357 Snubs at 25m and 50m
After bragging up my M19 snubs for IDPA on a gun forum, I was challenged to see how they performed at 25m and 50m.
I put up IPSC "Item" targets (the old one with the "B" zone head) at each distance. Load was 158 RNFPs/3.2 grs Tite Group.
I shot "cold" with no warm up as per a match. At 25m I shot DA off hand, at 50m I went prone and SA cocked.
Results:
- at 25m 5 shots printed in a group 4" x 2-1/2", a flyer 1/4" outside the "A" zone widening it to 5-1/2".
- at 50m 5 shots printed in a group 4-1/2" x 1-3/4", a flyer expanding it to 6-3/4", but all within the "A" zone.
Both groups would have been well within the 8" down "0" circle of the IDPA target. I attribute the vertical stringing to the short sight radius.
There was a guy on the range shooting his S&W .44 and .500 magnoons wearing a PAST glove and shooting at 15m from a rest.
When he saw me posting my targets and the guns I intended to shoot, he said - "You're kidding." "Nope" says, I, "I'm not."
Checking my targets with me, he didn't say a word. His wife said - "Wow!"
Life is good and getting better .....
