Years ago, my two Rottweilers killed a fox that had wandered into their yard during a snowstorm.

I called Animal Control. They came and got the fox. Although I didn't know if my dogs had been bitten, I took them to the vet for a rabies booster shot.

Animal Control called me the next day to notify me the fox was not rabid. Poor fox, he just wandered into the wrong yard at the wrong time, that's all.
