Have a couple of the basic E series stainless 5" models. Both currently are wearing Kimber .22 uppers. Need to make one a .45 again. I have several 1911's including Kimber, STI, etc. The S&Ws are very good accurate pistols. Cost about $850 each as I recall. More than a Ruger or basic Springfield, probably a bit less than a comparable Kimber. Don't keep up with prices like I once did. My STI's are perhaps a bit nicer, but we're somewhat more costly. I'm pretty much into 9mm 1911's these days, and unless you go to the Pro series Smith doesn't make one. I'd like to see them make a Commander size stainless 9mm. If I buy one anytime soon, it will likely be a Ruger. Pity. I don't think the Rugers are quite as well made or as accurate as the Smiths, though that varies somewhat with particular guns as much as brands.
