I once had 4 of the pre '64 model 70's.
1949 standard in 30-gov't-06
308 featherweight
and two model 70 match rifles. one with the original barrel and one that had been rebarreled with a stainless barrel. The two match rifles shot very small groups and the 1949 was no slouch either. The feather weight would pound my cheek at every shot. And didn't do as well as the other three. All long gone now except for a post '64 match rifle in 30-06. Got that one from a local dealer as it sat on his shelves gave me a good price and home she went. Frank
